Learn the foundations of wheel throwing in this multi-week beginner class. No experience is needed—just come as you are! We’ll cover the essentials: wedging clay, throwing cylinders and bowls, shaping forms like cups, mugs, and vases, trimming, exploring simple surface decoration, and glazing your finished pieces.

Already have a little bit of wheel experience? This class is also for you! It is perfect for those who: need a refresher after some time away from the studio OR want to revisit the basics to build a stronger technical foundation.

Whether you're touching clay for the first time or looking to master the fundamentals you've met before, this course provides the structured guidance you need to feel more confident at the wheel.

This class will meet for 2.5 hours of each week. Participants will also have access to 3 hours of open studio each week. All materials will be provided.

Ages 14+

Note: This class meets for 2.5 hours, one day each week for four weeks. You can pick up your finished pieces 3-4 weeks after the class.

Cancellation Policy:

All cancellation updates must be done through email to hello@spgalleryva.com.

If you need to cancel your booking and would like a full refund we require 7 days notice prior to the date of the class. If you miss the 7 day deadline and still need to cancel there is a 50% processing fee.

Refunds are not offered for cancellations within 48 hours of the class date, day-of cancellations, or no-shows.
